Be apostles of Divine Mercy under the maternal and loving guidance of Mary.
— Pope John Paul II
to the Marians
June 22, 1993
Bearing humble witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ
and under the mantle of Mary Immaculate, the Marians
are faithful to the Holy Father and the teachings of the Church.
The Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception is a community of about 600 priests and brothers who are serving Christ and the Church in eighteen countries and in six continents.
Founded in Poland in 1673 by the Venerable Servant of God Fr. Stanislaus Papczynski, the Marians were the first Catholic men’s order to give witness to Mary’s Immaculate Conception by bearing her title. The Founder of the Marians particularly inspired his spiritual sons to a great love of Mary Immaculate, to pray for the souls in purgatory, and assist local pastors.
For the past five decades, the Marians have established apostolates that continue to build and serve the Church. Several of them reflect the Province’s special call to spread devotion to Jesus, The Divine Mercy.
The National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts serves tens of thousands of pilgrims each year. Dedicated in 1960 it has received national prominence because of it role in spreading The Divine Mercy message and devotion worldwide.
The Association of Marian Helpers (AMH), founded in 1944, and located also in Stockbridge, is a spiritual benefit society that serves the needs of more than half a million members. The prayers and financial offerings of the members of the Association support the Marians’ apostolic works around the world. The Marian Helpers Center houses Marian Press, the publishing arm, that prints the Diary of St. Faustina in addition to millions of pieces of religious materials each year, including the popular magazines Marian Helper, Roze Maryi, and Fuente de Misericordia.
